A Herz Biomatic 400kW biomass heating system was installed by Rural Energy Ltd to achieve Part L Building Regulation compliance and provides two thirds of the space heating and hot water demand in 42,000 sq ft of office space.

A below ground fuel hopper allows simple and quick fuel deliveries. There is a fuel agitator in the hopper base which lifts the fuel to the above ground plant room and delivers it to the boiler. The boiler and the fuel feed system have been selected as they are both compatible for wood chips and wood pellets. English Wood Fuels advised on all elements of the fuel delivery system and supply logistics.

Fuel usage once the building is fully occupied is approximately 160 tonnes of wood pellets which are supplied by English Wood Fuels.
